Download Instructions.exe files: Most people can use the default directory I've set (usually C:\SIERRA\Half-Life).zip files: Need to be unpacked into the appropriate directory (see below) General InstructionsMost files on this site are in ZIP format. This means that you'll need a utility that can handle ZIP files. If you have Windows ME or Windows XP, support for ZIP files is built into your operating system. When you download a ZIP file, you may simply double-click it to open it in a normal Windows Explorer window to see the files inside. If you are running some other operating system, you will need a utility that can understand ZIP files. For Windows, I suggest going to winzip.com . Alternatively, you may visit download.com and search for "ZIP". It should turn up the ZIP utilities for your OS. Once you can see the files inside the ZIP archive file, place them into the directory decribed below that's appropriate for the type of file you're downloading: Half-Life MapsIf you're playing a normal, plain-Jane Half-Life server, map files go into this directory by default: c:\sierra\half-life\valve\maps\ If you're playing a modification such as "Oz", that mod will have its own directory, e.g. c:\sierra\half-life\oz\maps\ Copy the file(s) out of the archive into that directory. If the ZIP archive contains files that have a directory structure associated with them, you must preserve that directory structure when extracting the files into the destination directory. If I have provided a self-extracting archive (with a .exe extension), I will set the default directory correctly for most users. For example, for Igmo's Half-Life maps, I provide self-extracting archives that should normally be unpacked into C:\SIERRA\Half-Life . If you have installed Half-Life into a different directory, change that path to the correct one. Half-Life ModelsModels, on the other hand, are not mod-specific. You install them in one place, and they'll work for all your Half-Life mods. Each model has its own directory. By default, all these directories live here: c:\sierra\half-life\valve\models\player\
UK's model packs have their own installer, making it easy. IGMO's model packs may
simply be extracted into the above directory, assuming you instsalled Half-Life to the
default directory.
The crosshairs file is named crosshairs.spr, and
belongs in the following directory:
c:\sierra\half-life\valve\sprites\
If there's already one there, I recommend backing it up first in case you want to
go back.
